Certification Requirements
Our tour guides and dance instructors must meet the following requirements:
- Professional Training: Completion of a recognized tour guide or dance instruction program.
- Local Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in Puerto Rican history, culture, and traditions.
- Dance Proficiency: For dance instructors, a minimum of 5 years of experience in their specialized dance style.
- First Aid Certification: Current certification in first aid and CPR.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Customer Service: Proven experience in customer service and group management.
Certification Process
Our certification process includes:
- Application and initial screening
- Background check and verification of credentials
- Knowledge assessment of Puerto Rican culture and history
- Practical demonstration of tour guiding or dance instruction skills
- Training in SalsaTours PR policies and procedures
- Shadowing experienced guides
- Final evaluation and certification
Continuing Education
We require all our guides and instructors to participate in continuing education to stay current with best practices, enhance their knowledge, and refine their skills. This includes regular workshops, cultural seminars, and professional development opportunities.
